Adonis Stevenson VS Tavoris Cloud: Stevenson by RTD round 7

Adonis"Superman" Stevenson(22-1-0(19 KO) stopped Tavoris"Thumder" Cloud(24-2-0(19 KO) in RTD round 7. When the round 7 finished referee stopped the fight becouse of the cuts above both eyes that Cloud has, it was not possible for him to continue. Adonis defended his WBC light heavyweight title for the first time. One way or another it was one sided battle. Tavoris took big punishment in every round when Stevenson landed his big left hands. It looked like a sparring session for Stevenson as he was much quicker and much more accurate with his shots. He allways stood outside and was hurting Cloud with his big left hand every time Cloud was trying to cut the distance.

Cloud had a gameplan like this. Come closer and trade punches. He new that he can absorb damage very well. Indeed that guy has a titanium chin. So many clean shots and he was still on his feet till the end. But the problem that he moved only straight, and Adonis was cathing him with his left hand and quickly escaping without any trades.
Cloud missed many big right and left hooks, they all went to the air. I beleve some of them if landed, might have changed the situation. But Stevenson was just too fast. And his defense plan was perfect. I can say that Stevenson was hurt only once in second round when Cloud managed to connect one big right hand but he felt on the floor when tryed to connect left hook afterwards.

And Clouds jab was totally useless. He just threw it in the air all time. And even in those rare moments when excahges happened Cloud was landing his shots just above Stevensons head, or to the shoulder. Adonis was just too good for Cloud. Cloud was outboxed by the puncher and that is sad.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. VS Brian Vera: Chavez by UD.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.(47-1-1(32 KO) had a hard night against Brian Vera(27-7-0(14 KO). The final score by judges was 98-92; 96-94; 97-93; all three in favor of Chavez, but the real picture was completely different. It was a very close fight, but on my score cards Vera won the fight at least by 2 rounds. Vera was more active, more landing man in the game. He was going forward for all ten rounds and throwing twice as much as Chavez. The guy really deserved the win, but in such bouts when fighting star and "no name", "no name" can win only by KO. That's why my money are allways on big star...

Vera was dominating the fight thats for sure, but if you look at the big bombs that he landed you can say that there were only few. Only few times in the fight he landed nice shots that connected, and even those shots made no problems to Chavez.
In fact all the fight Vera was throwing and throwing double jabs and hard shots that Chavez escaped very well. Chavez showed perfect defense by making Vera miss a lot.
Another thing that Chavez done very well was his accuracy on connecting big hits. He connected many huge bombs so clean that sometimes I was so surprised that Vera is still there. Some of the hits were so huge that Vera was loosing his balance for the moment,  it looked like he can go down but after a moment he was back in the game moving forward and throwing his double jab again.

The problem was that Chavez almost never used any combinations. He was throwing single shots all night, hoping to knockout Vera becouse of his bigger punch power and much bigger weight.
I thought that Chavez will take easy fight and will knockout Vera in late rounds, but I was wrong. Chavez doesn't look so good. He showed perfect defense and accuracy, but he must be much more active if he wants to keep winning. Vera was "no name" and he was robbed with the decision and we can't do anything about it, but If next time he will meet someone with better name and strong promoters, judges can not be so generous for him.

Boxing News: Deontay Wilder will face another "no name"

Unbeaten American (Heavyweight hope) knockout artist Deontay(The Bronze Bomber) Wilder(29-0-0(29 KO) will face another zero-worth human-punching-bag Nicolai Firtha(21-10-1( 8 KO) on October 26 in Atlantic City, USA.
It is planned as a 10 rounds fight but I will be very surprised if it goes more then 3. When I think about Deontay Wilder as a profesional boxer I see some potential in him and his career, but this fight is a huge stepback after his last one. I believed that Deontay will finish fighting all those bus drivers and hamburger sellers when he moved to C category fighters like Audley Harrison and Sergey Liachovic.

But this one... I mean can't they find another former heavyweight champion, well behind his prime, 1-2 years away from boxing, but still with some respectful record. Who moves slow but can handle a punch and have some power in his hands. I mean another C category fighter. Well take James"Lights Out" Toney,  Evander"Real Deal" Holyfield, I dont know maybe John Ruiz at least someone who has respectful background.

I thought maybe 2-3 C category fighters and then it is time for some B category boxer, who is active, can hit, can land can move. If Deontay shows well with active professionals maybe after 2-3 of them he can take some A category boxer, someone from top 15. And if it goes well then after 2-3 of those he can take a shot against Klitchko. That is how it must go.
And now... Nicolai Firtha... You just google this guy picture...He looks like a short fat hot dog seller or gass-station worker from the streeet. How can this fight end? Another knockout for sure.

I mean Deontay Wilders promoters speak about Firtha as about someone who fought Alexander Povetkin, Tyson Fury and Johnathon Banks. But he lost to all of those guys, he was knocked out by Tyson Fury in round 5. And his wins a agaisnt other "no names" with poor record by decisions or majority decisions. That shows that the guy can't hit at all. He cant hurt wilder if he even connects clear. This is so big mismatch...
Maybe I ask too much, but sometimes it's so hard to watch how a guy in his prime who has a potential instead of moving forward goes fast backwards...

Boxing News: Carl Froch VS George Groves closer look.

Carl"The Cobra"Froch(31-2-0(22 KO) will soon meet another challenge when he have to defend his IBF Super middleweight title against undefeated and young challenger from his own country George Groves(19-0-0(15 KO). Both men look forward there bout, both are certain about there victory. The fight will take place in Manchester, United Kingdom on November 23. Big hype is created about this fight, Froch feels insulted that Groves shows no respect for what he achieved in boxing, and Groves believeshe does not need to show any respect to old champ, as he isn't so good fighter as he thinks he is.

One way or another but Froch record is full of big names. He won against Mikkel Kessler, Lucian Bute, Arthur Abraham, Andre Direll,  Jean Pascal. Lost only to Mikkel Kesslar and Andre Ward. He has chin made of titan and big power in his punches. He has good speed and stamina. He has big experience in his career.

I like Froch as a fighter very much, he is fast enouth and he has big power. He connects his punches very well. He looked good in his last 3 fights after his loss to Andre Ward in the end of 2011. He destroyed unbeaten Lucian Bute in round 5 TKO last year and knocked out not so famous but still good fighter Yusaf Mack in round 3 also in the end of last year. This year he took revenge for his loss against very good fighter from Denmark Mikkel Kesslar by unanimous decision. He feels ready to destroy another unbeaten opponent.

Groves doesn't have so impressive record as Froch.  But on the other hand he is only 25 years old. In his last fight he won by round 5 TKO against hard hitting puncher from Uruguay Neo Gonzalez Alcoba for vacant  WBA Inter-Continental super middleweight title.

What I like about Groves is  that he can switch his tactics during the fight several times. If he sees that one tactics fails he can change the game plan. He has sharp jab, good right hand and he can hit with nice combinations.  Three last fights he won by KO or TKO. Offcourse opposition was not like the one Froch faced but he looked perfect. He outboxed all his opponents and was dominating all fights with his work in distance. He moves very well, defends very well and lands very well...

Boxing Prediction: Adonis Stevenson VS Tavoris Cloud: 2013-09-28, Canada

Adonis "Superman" Stevenson(21-1-0(18 KO), 36 years old hard hitting southpaw from Canada will face 31 years old american Tavoris "Thunder" Cloud(24-1-0(19 KO) on September 28 in Canada. This will be battle for his WBC light heavyweight title. Stevenson comes from 8 straight KO/TKO wins in a row.

Stevenson is a very big puncher. It took him only 1:16 minutes to KO Chad Dawson in first round when they met  in Canada 3 mounths ago. His last win over the  decision was 6 years ago. He has only 1 loss that happened 3 years ago from unknown punching bag Darnell Boone(19-21-3(8 KO). Stevenson took his revenge latter and stopped Boone in round 6 this year.
He doesn't have big names in his record, exept Chad Dawson, but his oppenents in last years were better and better.

Tavoris Cloud  comes after his first loss in his professional career agaisnt Bernard Hopkins on March earlier this year. He lost by unanimous decision to Hopkins who is the king of spoiling nice to watch boxing, and one of most uninteresting boxers for fans eyes. Hopkins knows how to deal with big punches by using his dirty tactics and super defense.
Before the fight agaisnt Hopkins Tavoris won agaisnt talented southpaw Gabriel Campillo from Spain by Split Decision.
Both guys are top class, I believe this will be nice match to watch, I dont believe this will go to the distance...

Boxing Prediction : Julio CesarChavez Jr. vs Brian Vera 2013-09-28, USA

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.(46-1-1(32 KO) is coming back after his suspension to the big boxing. e will face american Brian Vera(23-6-0(14 KO) at stubhub center, USA on September 28. This match will be shown on HBO. Chavez last fight was one year ago, against boxing legend Sergio Martinez in Las Vegas last year. That was first loss for mexican in his professional carreer.

In that fight with Martinez Chavez lost his WBC middleweight title by unanimous decision. He was outboxed by master Sergio, but still Chavez was capable to drop Martinez in round 12. Martinez was on the ground 2 times in that round, but second time was counted just as a slip by referee. In my opinion Sergio was in big danger and if Chavez had more time he could knockout Sergio.

Brian Vera comes after poor win over lithuanian Donatas Bondrovas on March 29 this year. In that fight Vera looked very poor and was saved by the stoppage becouse of an injury. Vera looked good in the first rounds, but from the middle rounds Bondrovas started to destroy Vera and was close to make an upset but the fight was stopped becouse of the cut over Bondrovas eye and Vera got away with the decision.

BOXING NEWS: Saunders defeated Ryder by close decision

Billy Joe Saunders(19-0-0(10) KO) kept his Commonwealth(British Empire) title by unanimous but  close decision against John Ryder(15-1-0(9 KO), It was a nice to look, very competitive fight between two undefeated southpaws. Judges scored it 115-114; 115-113; 115-113; all three for Billy Joe Saunders.
Some boxing experts and fans believes that Ryder was robbed with the decision, but I don't agree with them. Yes, it was a close fight, but I just didn't see Ryder doing enouth for the decision. I mean he was a challenger, and Sauders was a champion. If you want to take a title you must defeat a champ, not to fight as equal. I just didn't see him landing enouth.
For those who didn't see the fight I can say that it was really close fight. I mean there were many rounds when you can score 10-10. There were no knockdowns or even dangerous moments for anyone...

BOXING NEWS: Dereck Chisora destroyed Edmund Gerber

Dereck"Del Boy"Chisora(18-4-0(12 KO) practically destroyed Edmund Gerber(23-2-0(14 KO) when they met in Copper Box Arena. London, on this Saturday. It was ine sided battle for the vacant EBU(European) heavyweight title. Gerber was so proud before the match and so pitty in the ring.

I mean he tryed to look like a tuff guy from Germany who can hit hard, take a shot, take advantage of stunned enemy - but in reallity he looked just like a punching bag for Chisora. From first minutes of the match it was clear that this is a big mismatch. Fights like this shows that  record doesn't mean a thing.Even poor record like Chisoras(17-4) was way to high  for a nice record  like Gerbers(23-1).

I mean Chisora came and started to work on his human punching bag. There was no scouting, no matching, no nothing. He just came close and started hitting him to the body and to the head with big hooks and uppercuts.
Gerber looked so pathetic that he almost never used his jab or try to catch Chisora on his way in with any punches. He stood in poor block state with his hand up high and let Chisora work on his body with big punches all the time. By the end of round 3 it looked like Gerber will soon start to cry and beg his corner and referee to stop the abuse...

Boxing News: David Haye Vs Tyson Fury fight postponed

One of most expected heavyweight bouts in Europe between David"Hayemaker"Haye(26-2-0(24 KO) and Tyson Fury(21-0-0(15 KO) is postponed after Haye suffered an injury in his training sparring session with croatian Filip Hrgovic yesterday.

Oh my God, this is so annoying. David Haye cancelled another performance. He is so unlucky with the injurys. I mean he had his toe broken in the main fight of his life against Vladimir Klitchko. He got injury and cancelled the fight with Manuel Char earlier this year. Now this. Will we ever see this fighter in the ring again? Or he willl never bypass his sparring partners?

Andre Ward will face Edwin Rodriguez on November 16

Andre Ward(26-0-0(14 KO) will face unbeaten Edwin Rodriguez(24-0-0(16 KO) on November 16 this year. Well Ward was looking for an opponent for some time, just I didn't think he looked for someone on that level. I mean Ward had a  shoulder surgery and planned to have 1-1 easy fights before some strong opponent.

I believe HBO was interested in Ward-Rodriguez fight more than in Ward-NoName fight.  Couse I see big risk  for WBA super middleweight champ in this fight. Yes Ward is strong and fast. He made a big statement when he won super-six tournament destroying big names as Carl Froch, Arthur Abraham, Mikkel Kessler. In his last fight he destroyd Chad Dawson by TKO round 10, Chad was also dropped on rounds 3 and 4. He is definitely a real deal.
